This fall, Rustic Elegance worked with some outstanding vendors to plan a backyard/farm inspirational shoot. This experience was incredibly amazing!! So much work but so much fun! I have to say it was really hard to narrow down which photos to use. Jeannine Marie Photography did an astonishing job capturing all the details. We were inspired to put this shoot together for brides who share a love of the outdoors and who are envisioning an intimate, rustic but elegant, backyard/farm wedding.
A bit about the shoot:
The shoot took place on a residential farm in Independence, MN, which belongs to the parents of the bride model. The bride and groom models (Leslie and Jeremiah) have been dating since 2010. Their love for each other truly shows in theses photos. The flower girls are sisters, Macia and Siri and are friends of the ring bearer, Miles. Can they get any cuter!!?? Parker, the horse, was a horse I rescued a long time ago-He looked like a donkey when we got him-you could never tell by the looks of him now!
A bit about the vendors:
Most of the decor came from the Rustic Elegance Rental collection… including the harvest wood tables, vintage sofa’s, dessert buffet hutch, vintage plates etc.. It was so fun to see all our items come together to create this sensational look! Similar to a real wedding, we also coordinated all the vendors, time-lines, set up, overall look and style of the shoot.
SM Makeup Inc. used their talents to help with the make-up and hair styling. For the Bridal look, they went with a more traditional, elegant look. They kept her hair style simple by sticking with a down-do, but adding extensions to give a full, thick look. Then, by setting the full head in curls, they were able to achieve that effortless and “flowy” outcome. They used a combination of traditional and airbrush makeup. Then contoured the face to accentuate the brides features, and ended with a light airbrush application to really give that “flawless face”. They also wanted to make her eyes pop but still look “natural” so defined the eyebrows, contoured the eye with shadows in the brown/neutral tones, highlighted all the right areas, and used beautiful, thick faux lashes to round out the look. For her lips, they gave a little pop of pink coral, and she was ready to go!” I think Leslie was awestruck at the outcome, as this country girl doesn’t usually wear make-up!! She looked breathtaking!!
We love the gold lettered “love” necklace that was provided by Kisa Boutique -so simple and so fun!! Kisa boutique has a new whole sale business which and specializes in small batch statement pieces curated for the beautifully bold and adventurous women of this world!
Inspire Bridal Boutique provided the bridal gown and flower girl dresses. The brides dress is an Essense of Australia. This stunning low back wedding dress in Luxe Taffeta features a figure-flattering trumpet silhouette and a romantic removable lace overlay that creates a beautiful V-neck and a deep V-back. The detachable French-wide satin sash adds wow to this breathtaking ensemble. We love how the lace complimented the style we were going for.
Simply Stated Elegance provided all the floral arrangements. The brides bouquet consisted of classic rustic flowers including sola, hanging amranthus, roses, orchids and greens for texture, secured using burlap and lace. The grooms boutonniere consisted of scabiosa pods, broom corn pieces and seeded eucalyptus tied using a twine string. Rustic wood floral boxes were used as accents on the dinner tables-they consisted of the same blend of rustic flowers as the brides bouquet. These flowers were outstanding!!
Sara’s Tipsy Pies , adds a twist to the traditional homemade pie by baking with local wine, whiskey and beer! For our shoot she made an assortment of fun desserts-a good alternative to the traditional wedding cake. Among the desserts were: Hand pies filled with salted caramel apple filling featuring Finnegans Irish Amber Ale, Drunken pumpkin pies, “Pie Pals” (mason jar pies) filled with Finnegans Maple Apple, & Pie Pops (pies on a stick) made with Chestnut Hill Apples beer from Lift Bridge brewer. We were lucky enough to try these after the shoot an WOW!!!
The Outer Envelope specializes in wedding invites, bridal logos, save the dates, programs, place cards.. etc- For our shoot they used fun typography, popping on each piece with rustic kraft paper along with touches of lace and twine. So cute!! We love how they were also able to create custom tags for our desserts and popcorn favors.
We’ve Got it Covered, specializes in custom draping, specialty linens, chair covers, sashes, backdrops and more. For our shoot, they provided and hung all the chandeliers and also the lace chair ties. We think you can never have enough chandeliers-they just add such elegance to any setting!
Midway Party Rental provided the chiavari chairs, burgundy napkins, place settings, crystal glassware and candelabras used at the harvest dinner table. We loved how the silver candelabras added such a classic, warm, romantic look to the table. We also love how the harvest table looks paired with their chiavari chairs!
Huge thank you to all the vendors who took part in this inspirational farm shoot! They all went above and beyond to make this shoot spectacular and it came together better then I ever imagined!! Hope you enjoy the photos.. don’t miss the moon in the night shoots!! (We planned that.. ha).
Jeannine Marie Photography and I had the pleasure of visiting Weddings in Echo Valley, located in Clear Lake WI (about an hour and 15 mins from Mlps).. We met Dustin and Emily, the owners, who are pretty fun! We came out to visit, take a tour and enjoy some woodfire pizza (they serve woodfire pizza’s every Thursday). Weddings in Echo Valley is a hidden gem!! It is the perfect place for a couple looking for a laid back, rustic, retreat feel. Dustin and Emily have transformed an old barn into a pretty cool looking pavilion, complete with bathrooms, a large bar, and mason jar light fixtures (they also have a “man cave for the men and a bridal suite for the ladies). The reception space can hold up to 200 people-and includes hand crafted wood round tables and chairs. The ceremony space is positioned on a grassy peninsula over looking a pond with a water fountain. I would highly recommend Weddings in Echo Valley -I kind of didn’t want to leave. 🙂 We would love to help plan your wedding here!
The Blue Horse barn is located in New Richmond WI, about 45 mins from St. Paul… another little hidden gem of a barn! This timber frame barn and surrounding property are somewhat fairytale like…Flower gardens are everywhere! The ceremony spot, complete with benches, is nestled in a grove of greeny. The barn seats up to 200 guests and comes with vintage tables and chairs. (A tent may also be rented if more space is needed). The property also consists of nicely done bathrooms, which is a rare find for a barn venue. This is also the only barn that I know of where you and your guests can camp over night!! How fun!! Karla, the owner, is great and will go out of her way to make sure your day is special and complete with everything you are looking for! We would love to help plan your wedding here or provide Rustic Decor to add to your day! Thanks for the great pics Jeannine Marie Photography!
Today we feature Hillary and Jon’s wedding from this past fall at Chankaska Creek Winery. I love the passion these two have for each other and for their family and friends! What an adorable couple! We had a blast helping plan their wedding! Thank you Melissa Oholendt Photography for these stellar photos! I actually teared up when I first saw how amazing Hillary looked and I love that Melissa captured this moment in a photo!
Their day came together so nicely after months and months of planning. The Chankaska Creek Winery was a breath taking site on this perfect fall day. Hillary and Jon left no detail out! The center pieces were constructed using wood from Jon’s grandfathers land, using flowers from Hilltop Florist. The guest book, was also a carefully cut wood slab from grandpa. The tent was elegantly draped with fabric and twinkle lights by We’ve Got it Covered. The guests were serenaded with jazz music, during the cocktail hour by the outstanding Wienbeck Trio. Absolute Catering, provided passed appetizers and a delicious plated dinner. After dinner, Adagio provided a full night of dancing and fun! Guests also got cozy by the bon-fire and roasted smores (my favorite was the reeses pieces smore)!. All this fun was captured on video by Mint Ave Creative-check out their wedding video below.
Thank you Hillary and Jon for choosing Rustic Elegance to help with your day! We wish you a life time of love and happiness!!
The The Barns of Lost Creek is located in Beldenville WI, which is just 45 minutes from the twin cities. Jeannine Marie Photography and I had the pleasure of meeting Melissa, the owner, who gave us a tour of the wedding barn. This barn is a perfect rustic spot to host a wedding!
We loved the openness of main hayloft of the barn which houses 6 crystal chandeliers. The barn is fully accessible and has real restrooms! The large deck off the back offers spectacular views of the grounds. Melissa has been collecting rustic chairs and these are also included in the barn rental.. so fun!! She has also tastefully decorated the barn with rustic decor elements. The barn felt so inviting and cozy! We would love to help plan your wedding at The Barns of Lost Creek
Coops Barn is surrounded by rolling farm fields, well manicured landscape and gorgeous countryside views. The barn sits on 10 acres and is located in southeastern Minnesota, between Rochester and Owatonna, just 90 minutes outside of Minneapolis. Keith, the owner, has paid a lot of attention to detail as he restored this dairy barn-which includes a deck off the hay loft and built in bathrooms. The barn can accommodate up to 350 guests when using the hay loft and lower level. We would love to help you plan your wedding here! Thanks to Jeannine Marie Photography for these great photos!!
Lissa and Brett were married in Mexico, but still wanted to have a reception/celebration back home with their family and friends. They decided to get married in Lissa’s parents backyard in Inver Grove Heights on June 21st-this is also where Lissa’s parents had their reception. This was right up our ally-backyard weddings are our favorite! We started planning with taking a look at the space to see where it would make sense to place the tent, parking, yard games, bar etc. Lissa and Brett decided they wanted to have a food truck, which worked out great since they had an open house style reception with 300 people!! The food truck was great- Chico’s Catering! I would highly recommend them, their tacos were amazing and they were so super friendly and nice!! To help keep the beer cold we rented a beer trailer from Victory Rentals -this thing is great and can hold up to 8 kegs. This is a huge help for backyard weddings! The tent, tables and chairs, were provided by Midway Party Rental-who also elegantly draped the tent with fabric and twinkle lights. I think this adds so much to a tent, especially at night! Northern lights DJ kept the party dancing until well into the night! Towards the end of the night Lissa and Brett requested a late night snack of White Castle and Pizza-which guest absolutely loved!
We had so much fun helping this family celebrate! Backyard weddings are so much fun and personal, but also so much work. We were glad we could help run the days events and act as hosts so Lissa and Brett’s family could also enjoy the day! Thank you to Studio Starfish for taking these amazing photos for us!!
On September 27th 2014, Rustic Elegance helped Heather and James celebrate their union of marriage!! They choose Settlment Hill Farm for their ceremony and reception venue. We love this barn! Heather did a lot, and I mean a lot of DIY’ing for their wedding! You can tell how much time she spent by how amazing everything looked!! All the decor and her ideas came to life just as she imagined! The tables were set with vintage plates, burlap and lace runners, along with wood slices, floral arrangements, pearls, candles and don’t forget the birds. The dessert buffet, with a lot of sweet options ;), couldn’t have been more perfect, as it was set on a old door, supported by wine barrels (from our rental collection) with a carefully hung chandelier above it. Custom wood directional signs were carefully placed throughout the grounds. Heathers personal touches and decor were seen all throughout the barn. Heather’s mom even made the favors which were homemade bars of soap. The day was a perfect sunny day, although maybe a little hot for Heathers liking. After the ceremony, the day was filled with a yummy dinner prepared by Amy’s Bistro (who has a mobile kitchen by the way). Followed by yard games, music and dancing by the amazing Dj Paul from Midwest Sound (this guy went above and beyond!!). The night was topped off with a smores and hot dog roasting buffet (love this idea)!! All these memories were captured beautifully by Amanda Nippoldt Photography! It was so much fun helping Heather, we worked together so much leading up to the wedding, I feel like I gained another bride friend!
A bit about Heather and James:
They went to the same high school however James was 3 grades above Heather, so she didn’t remember him at all. Heather’s brother was in the same grade as James. They became facebook friends in 2010, as she put it “he stalked me. Haha. Eventually asked me to “hang out” with him. Our first date was a movie, cant do much talking at a movie!! Lol. Our second was the state fair! After a few months of “hanging out” we made it official and he moved in with me and my roommates. I believe it was our 3rd or 4th date, I took James on a horse carriage ride at Nicollet Island in Mpls… fast forward to November 2012, he took me on that same horse carriage ride, we stopped over the Mississippi and he proposed”!
Heather and James are currently house shopping and expecting their first baby boy shortly! Congrats you two!! Thank you for including Rustic Elegance to help with the wedding planning for your very important day!!
Birch Hill Barn has been added to my favorite barn’s list!! The newly restored 100 year-old dairy barn is nestled among 40-acre’s of rolling pastures of northern Wisconsin-just an hour from Minneapolis-St. Paul. The scene is breath taking as you drive up and even more so as you enter the barn. This barn has an amazing loft area with reclaimed wood floors and siding that lets just a little bit of light shine through. The barn comfortably accommodates approximately 250 people. The lower level of the barn is nicely redone and clean and can be used for a cocktail hour. They also offer a bridal suite on site. The barn is reasonably priced and definitely worth a peek if you are considering a barn wedding! Thanks for the Pics Jeannine Marie Photography!
